SN6500B ALL Fan LED Amber

Hello,

I noticed that all the FAN LEDs on the two SN6500B were lit amber.
However, there were no abnormalities in the status, and it seems that it had been operating in this state for at least two year.
In the meantime, I upgraded FOS to 8.2.3d, but the issue was not resolved.

I have checked the documentation shown above.

LED color
Steady amber

Status of hardware
Fan fault for one of the following
reasons:
тАв A fan assembly with mismatched airflow is present.
тАв One or more of the fans in the fan assembly has failed
---

There, I checked the status of the hardware and found that there were no problems.
For example, fan is normal as shown below.
fanshow :
Fan 1 is Ok, speed is 2011 RPM
Fan 2 is Ok, speed is 2011 RPM
Fan 3 is Ok, speed is 2047 RPM
Fan 4 is Ok, speed is 12001 RPM
Fan 5 is Ok, speed is 12001 RPM

There was also no airflow mismatch.

I checked the release notes for the current FOS version, and there was no mention of this.

Since a similar phenomenon has occurred on two SN6500B, we believe that it is some kind of bug rather than a hardware failure.
However, I couldn't find that information.
Is there any information on the problem where the FAN LED turns amber?

Best Regards,

Re: SN6500B ALL Fan LED Amber

Hello haku1,

I understand :
- You have already checked the Broadcom document that says, the amber LED indicates a hardware fault, or wrong FRU.
- You have verified that there is no hardware fault. The fans, PSUs and chassis are all of type Non-port side intake.
- FOS is at the latest v8.2.3d
- This symptom is observed on 2 switches of the same model.

This is a single bi-color LED
We don't have a known issue / bug documented for this behavior.

Please contact support, with the supportsave logs from both switches, for further investigation.

Thanks!

Hello NimaG,

thank you for your reply.
Since it seems to be glowing yellow-green, I conclude that it is a normal LED.
