NAB Show 2024: Tune in to the future of media and broadcasting
HPE OEM Solutions Business Development Manager Todd Baker will be heading out to NAB next week to meet with customers and partners, and find out what the media and broadcast industry is most excited about in the coming year. I caught up with him to find out what he is looking forward to at the show. Here's what he had to say.
Every year, the NAB Show shines the spotlight on the latest trends, topics, and technologies that are transforming the broadcast, media, and entertainment industries. Itโs the premier venue for industry professionals looking to keep up with the rapidly evolving innovations in these sectors.
Happening over April 13โ17, 2024, in Las Vegas, NV, this yearโs NAB Show is packed with presentations, workshops, exhibitions, learning labs, and other sessions covering a vast spectrum of tech topics. The event is organized into three curated tracks, or Zones, to help industry professionals customize their event experience:
- Create: From ideation to post-production, this zone in focused on streamlining workflows and production processes.
- Connect: All about how to use emerging technologies and tools to reach new audiences and optimize content distribution and delivery.
- Capitalize: Dedicated to emerging tech and disruptive business models for maximizing reach and ROI in these fast-changing industries.
After looking through the event schedule, Iโve picked up on two prominent themes.
Theme 1: Spotlight on AI
Artificial intelligence has been the center of attention at practically every professional conference for the past year. Given the massive transformative potential of generative AI in media and content creation, itโs no surprise that AI is the dominant theme at the NAB Show as well. No exaggeration, there are hundreds of sessions, labs, panel discussions, workshops, and presentations over the course of the event that involve AI.
In fact, AI literally takes center stage to start this yearโs Show. The second part of the opening keynote features a collaborative presentation from Futuri Media CEO Daniel Anstandig and Ameca, an autonomous, AI-powered humanoid robot.
Itโs evident that 2024 is a pivotal year for the media industry with regard to revolutionary AI and ML technologies. Itโs essential that individuals and enterprises alike understand how AI will impact their world and the skills and technologies they will need to help them thrive in the years to come.
Theme 2: Convergence of transmission standards
This theme is more focused in the Connect and Capitalize zones, but the simultaneous shift of the cellular industry to 5G and the broadcast industry to ATSC 3.0 might be the most significant upgrade to content transmission technology since broadband internet. There are many sessions devoted to ATSC 3.0 and what it means for the future of broadcast.
Not only can you visit HPE at our booth to discuss ATSC 3.0 opportunities and technology, but Denise Willsey, HPE Director of Sales & Business Development will also be participating in a panel discussion on transformative ATSC 3.0 Core networks. Donโt miss it: ATSC 3.0 Broadcast Core Networks: Serving Diverse Use-Cases Across a Heterogeneous Broadcast and Supplier Ecosystem Tuesday, April 16 | 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM
Check out the full list of sessions and speakers here.
