HPE SV3200 Issue

We have a storage Hpe SV3200 LFF with a critical error "EO.Rackear-Sensor error

When this error comes up, it comes with a warning on the enclosure that the expander is degraded. After sometimes, we get disconnected from the storage probably the storage reboots. We have to wait for some minutes before we can connect to it again.

Re: HPE SV3200 Issue

@Bukky

Good day!

It sounds like you're dealing with a critical error on your HPE SV3200 storage system, specifically related to the EO. Rackear-Sensor and a warning about the expander being degraded.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Physical Connections

>> Ensure all cables and connections between the storage system, enclosures, and servers are secure.
>> Inspect the Rackear-Sensor and related components for any physical damage.

2. Review System Logs

>> Access the system logs on the HPE SV3200 to gather more detailed information about the error. Look for any specific error codes or messages that might indicate the root cause.

3. Update Firmware

>> Ensure that the firmware for both the HPE SV3200 and any connected components (controllers, expanders, etc.) is up-to-date. Check HPE's official website: https://support.hpe.com/  for the latest firmware releases.

4. Check for Known Issues

>> Consult the HPE support website for any known issues or solutions related to the specific error message you're encountering. There might be firmware updates or patches available to address the problem.

>> HPE typically provides detailed documentation and troubleshooting guides for their storage systems. Check the official documentation for your HPE SV3200 model to find relevant information on resolving critical errors.

5. Monitor Environmental Conditions

Ensure that the storage system is operating within the specified environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.). Overheating or other environmental factors could contribute to hardware issues.

>> As a precaution, make sure you have a recent backup of your data in case the issue leads to data breakage or if you need to perform any maintenance that may result in data disruption.

If the issue persists and you're unable to resolve it through the above steps, consider reaching out to HPE support.

I hope the info helps! Let me know...

Re: HPE SV3200 Issue

@Bukky

The term "Rackear-Sensor" may refer to a sensor that monitors the position or condition of the rack ears of a device when installed in a rack. Rack ears are the metal brackets attached to the sides of a device, allowing it to be mounted in a standard equipment rack.

In the context of your HPE SV3200 storage system, the Rackear-Sensor could be a component designed to monitor the status or position of the rack ears. However, the exact details can vary, and it's crucial to consult the documentation specific to your storage system to get accurate information.

Here are some general steps you can follow to locate the Rackear-Sensor or related information:

>> Check the user manual, installation guide, or any documentation provided by HPE for your SV3200 storage system. Look for information about the Rackear-Sensor, its function, and its location within the device.

>> Examine the exterior of the SV3200 storage system. The Rackear-Sensor might be a small sensor or component located on or near the rack ears. It could be a part of the overall hardware monitoring system.

>> Access the web interface or management software for the HPE SV3200. Navigate to the hardware status or monitoring section to see if there is information about the Rackear-Sensor. Some storage systems provide detailed information about hardware components through their management interfaces.

If you're unable to locate information about the Rackear-Sensor or if the documentation is unclear, consider reaching out to HPE support for further assistance.

Hope this gives some insights!

Re: HPE SV3200 Issue

@Vinky_99  Thanks for your help.

We eventually changed the rackear device , but on powering up the storage after the change, the configuration on the storage was reset . Even the administrator's was changed to the default and the RAID configuration cannot be seen again.

Anyway, we are going back to the site today to continue the troubleshooting.

I will update you afterwards.

Once again, thank you.

Bukky.
