Booting from CD on RX6600

Hi,
I have a RX6600 and am trying to boot Windows 64 Bit.

I assume I need an Itanium version cd and not a standard 64bit Windows CD to boot? Is there anything else I need?

Thanks for any help.

Regards,

Paul

Re: Booting from CD on RX6600

Similar to a proliant where you boot from a smartstart CD followed by a x86 Win CD,

you need for an Integrity the
SmartSetup CD and an ia64 Win cd.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Booting from CD on RX6600

I have now run the setup cd succesfully on the server. But when I attempt to boot from the installation CD I get the following error;

INF file txtsetup.sif is corrupt or missing, status 4.

Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit.

The file txtsetup.sif is located in the IA64 directory on the CD.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Paul

Re: Booting from CD on RX6600

Old post but ran into this myself with Windows Server 2003.

The issue is solved by using a newer copy of Server 2003 with SP1 already installed.

You can find a copy here: Windows Server 2003 64-Bit Edition for Itanium Systems : Microsoft : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

The image you need is: "en_windows_server_2003_with_sp1_enterprise_ia64_dvd.iso"

Hope this helps others playing around with these older systems.
