Compute Ops Management - stage only

Started using Compute Ops Management to manage our 50+ Proliants, and have two quesions, that I cannot seem to find the answers to:

* Is it possible to "stage only" firmware from Compute Ops Management to the server? (as soon as I select a baseline and commit, it updates the server, and reboots)

 * Is there a setting that if I place a server in a server-group, the baseline does not get automaticly pushed to the server, and the server automaticly reboots?

Hello

The option to use Server Settings / Server Groups with the scheduling option would be your best path forward.

High Level

1.  Create server setting

2. Create a Server Group

3. Schedule a Server Firmware Update

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Create server setting

Step 1

Select Manage > Server Settings > Create server setting

a. Create Name - Example FW1

b. Add Description - Optional

c. Choose Category - Firmware

-Next

Step 2

a. Choose SPP Bundles

b. Finish and create server setting

2. Create a Server Group

STEP 1

a. Create Name - Example GROUPX

b. Add Description - Optional

-Next

STEP 2

a. Choose a firmware server setting > FW1

b. All other settings Optional

-Next

STEP 3 (Policies)

a. Optional

STEP 4 (automate adding)

a. Optional

STEP 5 (Review)

a. Finish and create server group

3. Schedule a Server Firmware Update

1. Choose a Server from that Group

Select Actions > Update Firmware

Select "Use firmware baseline from server group" (default) > Continue

Step 1 Firmware Baseline

GROUPX and Baseline FW1 should be selected

Select Next

Step 2 Select Servers

Server should be selected

Step 3 Schedule the update

Select Schedule the update (uo to 7 days out)

a. Select Date

b. Select Time

Next

Step 4 Review

Schedule the update

Also if you want to schedule more than 1 server from that group at the same time, you could...

Instead of 3. To schedule a Server Firmware Update (From Server) you could instead

3a. To schedule a Server Firmware Update (From Group)

1. Choose the Group

Select Actions > Update Firmware

From there you will be able to select any of the servers in the group via the Wizard.

Hope this help.

Thank you-

Re: Compute Ops Management - stage only

I created a baseline, concisting of the latest SPP + latest patches

Created a Server Group

Added servers to the group, and the next thing I saw, was my servers rebooting for a firmware update. And yes, those servers were in production...

Re: Compute Ops Management - stage only

Hello,

Check your group Settings.

When creating a Server Group, by default the option to Auto Apply baseline is disabled.

If it has been enabled, when adding Servers to the group, the Baseline would be applied immeidately.

To check Group

Select Manage > Server Groups

Select the Group > Check the Group Policies

If enabled, From group, select Actions > Edit

Step 3 of 5 (Firmware server settings policies)

Toggle Auto apply firmware basline to disabled

Thanks
