Vincent Vilcko built a successful career through automation and process improvement
Since the beginning, HPE has advanced the way people live and work by creating innovative technology at the heart of successful organizations and communities all over the world. We invite you inside our careers and culture through stories of the people who power HPE—our team members.
Today, we’re hearing from Vincent Vilcko, Automation Program Manager, focused on developing procedures to eliminate manual and repetitive tasks associated with Fulfilment operations.
Vincent’s HPE career journey
Vincent Vilcko serves as the Automation Program Manager for our fulfilment team in Bratislava, Slovakia. He started his career as an engineer and later moved to account management. He recognized there were a lot of manual processes within the organization and began looking for ways to automate repetitive tasks.
Vince first learned to use Microsoft Excel formulas and as his projects became more complex, he transitioned to Microsoft Power Automate. His leadership team recognized his ability to identify opportunities to automate processes and promoted him to lead an Automation Incubator program. Today he oversees 12 participants/trainees from selected departments within EMEA Fulfilment focused on various projects related to individual automation, consulting, and performing on-site automation trainings for HPE employees.
Team member straight talk
Q: What motivates you to work for HPE?
A: I started as a Diagnostic Image Test engineer and advanced to an account manager. I realized there is a huge amount of manual work and created processes to take care of mundane tasks. Now I’m leading our Automation Incubator program, with 12 participants/trainees from selected departments within the EMEA Fulfilment organization. It’s this career growth and opportunity that keeps me motivated to continually strive for more.
Q: How do you redefine what’s next for your career?
A: I recognize how automation, especially AI, will take over some jobs in the future. When one role is eliminated, new ones are often created and I’m excited to be part of the transformation to make it happen.
Q: What is one piece of advice you would give to someone interested in your field?
A: Evolution is the main driving force of nature. Let it be your driving force too by doing something first and asking for permission later.
